“Proud To Be A Hero”

For this show, Italian artist, Laurina Paperina continues her irreverent parodies of celebrity, this time zeroing in on super heroes and pop culture icons. The subjects of her drawings, animations and installations are most often merrily maimed and killed in a myriad of ridiculous ways, executed in an earnest effort to remind us that not only are we all ultimately humans made of the same basic flesh and blood, but also that life goes down much better with an ample helping of humor.
